Nancy Charamella taught art in the Howard County Public School System for 20 years. She has a Master of Fine Arts degree, concentrating in Fibers and has been a member of The Weavers Guild of Greater Baltimore since 1985. Currently on the Board of Directors for the Guild, Nancy teaches adult and children’s weaving and fiber-related classes through its weaving school at the Bloomsbury Community Center in Catonsville, MD.
She also teaches art classes in her home to private students and at Wintergrowth, an adult day care center in Columbia.
Nancy credits her artist-mother, who continues to paint at age 85, and a high school art teacher, who introduced her to many of the fiber arts, for helping to mold her passion for the arts and teaching. The greatest satisfaction for Nancy, as a teacher, is to see a student master a technique and then take it in a totally new direction.
Traveling extensively with her husband, Bob, Nancy enjoys collecting textiles from a variety of cultures and learning about their techniques.
